Selective Light Bridal Wear

Always wanting to broaden my photographic ability, inspiration for this shoot came from Ilse Roux who commented that photos received from weddings tend to focus on the bride and scenery and not on the dress. Very often the dress would be completely over-exposed (to compensate for the skin of the bride) and not the dress. So this selective light shoot was born, using inspiration from the 40’s make-up and hair. A beautiful, romantic shoot that I enjoyed tremendously. The background was created by hanging bird cages and umbrellas from the ceiling or using simplistic, striking props, creating an almost surrealistic image.
